Veterans involved in agriculture or those interested in getting started are invited to attend the Farmer Veteran Exchange on April 24 in Enfield, Connecticut. This free educational event will include veteran to veteran networking and training on farm risk management.

This workshop is ideal for veterans looking to get started or for those who have just begun their agricultural careers. It will provide information and resources to assist with the transition into agriculture. Topics covered will include USDA programs, such as Risk Management Agency (RMA), Farm Service Agency (FSA) and rural development programs; farm business recordkeeping; creating a business plan to mitigate risk; risk management planning; and completing a FSA application. Attendees will also have the opportunity to network with other farmer veterans and industry professionals.

The workshop will be moderated by Michele Pfannenstiel, the Farmer Veteran Coalition’s Coordinator of New England Activities, in collaboration with Farm Credit East and USDA’s Risk Management Agency. It is being held from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM at Farm Credit East’s office located at 240 South Road, Enfield, Connecticut.
