Registration is now open for the 2015 New York State Maple Tour being held June 28 to 30 in Franklin and Clinton Counties. There will be tours of several different sized sugar houses and displaying several types of production methods in addition to the featured “New Heights” stops.

The event schedule is as follows:

Sunday, June 28: Registration and Trade Show from 3:00-8:00 p.m. in the Adirondack Room at Moe’s Restaurant, 3357 U.S. Route 11, Malone, NY, in front of the Holiday Inn Express and Suites. Evening social with snack buffet opens around 5:30.

Monday, June 29: Air-conditioned charter busses pick up at 8:00 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites, 3351 U.S. Route 11, Malone for a tour of Franklin County. Drop-off time is 5:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn. Trade show resumes at 6:00 with the banquet commencing at 7:00. Banquet attire is semi-formal.

Tuesday, June 30: Air-conditioned charter busses pick up at 8:00 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites, 3351 U.S. Route 11, Malone for a tour of Clinton County with lunch at Parker Family Maple Farm in West Chazy. The 2015 NYS Maple Tour ends with a 5:00 drop-off back at the hotel.

The Tour: On Monday tour busses will be in Franklin County, taking us up to the Titus Mountain Ski Area in Malone for a look at Moon Valley Maple. Here the sap runs with the skiers to a slope side sugar house where visitors can drive or ski to the table for fresh syrup over waffles and a sugarhouse tour. We will also tour the operations of William Greenwood and Jon and Kyle Laurie before heading back for the banquet. The second day will focus on Clinton County, where you can see the 40’ pellet silo that feeds the pellet fired evaporator at Parker Family Maple Farm. Tour buses will also transport us to Rand Hill Maple for a look at the only New York sugarhouse to make the Maple Almanac’s “2014 U.S. Top Ten by Tap Count.” Will be hosted at the newly expanded Bechard’s Sugar House in addition to Casey’s Sugar House, Saranac Sugar Works and Brow’s Sugar House in West Chazy. A winery also makes the list, Amazing Grace Vineyard, with samples of their new maple wine, hosted by Homestead Maple.

Pride of New York Gift Exchange (optional): Interested participants are invited to bring a sample valued at $20-$25, at check-in. They will assign a number to it and display it, along with the name and region, on the gift table during the trade show. When you come back Monday night for the banquet, draw a different number to pick up your gift exchange item. Some ideas include: bird feeders, local wine gift basket, flavored maple creams, painted maple buckets or wood crafts.

LODGING: Tour registration fee does not include lodging. Sleepover reservations are the responsibility of tour participants. One free ticket per registrant will be provided to The Wild Center, 45 Museum Road, Tupper Lake, The Wild Center is an engaging natural history museum of the Adirondacks and a member of the NENYSMPA. The tickets are good June 26-July 2 only.

Note: The $170 registration fee no longer includes breakfast on Monday and Tuesday. The optional Tuesday night maple barbeque has been cancelled. If you signed up for the barbeque add-on, we will be refunding your money.
