The 2015 Pennsylvania Maple Tour will be held on October 17. The tour will be based out of the New Centerville Fire Company Banquet hall in New Centerville, Pennsylvania. New Centerville is located about 8 miles south of Somerset, PA. on Route 281.
Four Stops are being planned for the tour and the first stop will be Lemmon Brothers Farm Sugar Camp, the second will be Holler-Hills Maple in Markelton. The third stop will be the Paul Bunyan Sugar Camp located in Rockwood for lunch. This stop will also feature local historian Mark Ware. Mark has done extensive research on maple sugaring in Somerset County. He will share some interesting and fascinating facts about the maple industry in Somerset County over the last 200 years.
The last stop of the day will be Arnold’s Sugar Camp. Arnold’s Sugar Camp is a 4th generation family operation and is nestled in the woods of Rockwood, PA., Arnold’s Sugar Camp is located 6 miles south of Somerset on S.R. 3015. Pure maple products are available for sale year round: maple syrup, sugar, sugar cakes, taffy, maple cream & maple mustard. Their products are shipped worldwide.
After the last stop of the day we will return to the New Centerville Fire Hall for a banquet of their roast beef. The Contestants competing for the title of Pa Maple Sweetheart will introduce themselves and put on their presentations and a new Pennsylvania Maple Sweetheart will be chosen.
