Two upcoming webinars will help veterinarians, veterinary students, Extension educators, farmers, and other professionals who are interested in working with certified organic livestock and poultry understand the National Organic Program (NOP) standards, and allowed inputs and management practices.

The first webinar is called NOP Livestock Standards and will take place on October 8 at 1 p.m. ET.

During this 90 minute webinar led by OEFFA Certification’s Julia Barton, attendees will gain a better understanding of the history and meaning of organic, the certification process, and the standards governing organic crop and livestock production—while examining real-world examples. The second webinar is called Organic Livestock Inputs and will take place on October 22 at 1 p.m. ET. Presented by the International Organic Inspectors Association (IOIA) and the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI), attendees will learn about commonly used organic inputs, what organic inspectors look for during an inspection, and how OMRI evaluates livestock inputs. This webinar will include pre-course assignments; in-class discussion, examples, and exercises; and a post-course evaluation.

Participants who complete all tasks and meet minimum requirements will receive a joint IOIA/OMRI National Organic Program Livestock Input Materials Certificate of Completion. As an added incentive, those achieving a Certificate of Completion will also receive full registration to OEFFA’s conference in February.

Space is limited to 25 students and pre-registration is required no later than October 8. Pre-course assignments will be distributed on October 12 and are due by October 19; the post-course exam is due October 29.
