Commercial equine breeder Granada Farms is currently seeking individuals interested in a paid internship position for the 2015 breeding season. The internship begins mid-January and continues through May. Applications will be accepted through December or until the position is filled.
Granada Farms’ facility averages more than 200 mares per year. Currently, we are involved in running and barrel Quarter horses; however, we do custom work for a number of other breeds and registries.
A qualified applicant should have completed animal reproduction, should have a desire to learn and be willing to work six days a week. The chosen intern will gain hands-on experience in the following areas: collecting stallions, insemination of mares, handling mares and foals for routine veterinarian work, and various other duties as assigned by the supervisor. The individual will also be exposed to the application of embryo transfer. Opportunities for some research exist if a paper is required by your school for fulfilling the terms of your internship.
