The Pennsylvania Beef Council, in partnership with the South Dakota Beef Industry Council, will help consumers boost their beef and veal cooking skills at the 100th Pennsylvania Farm Show, January 9-16, in Harrisburg.
Located in the Main Hall, the Beef Booth will be open daily from 9 a.m.-7 p.m., and give visitors the chance to mix their own “Centennial Beef Rub” in honor of the Farm Show’s milestone anniversary. Beef Booth visitors will also have the opportunity to engage with local farmers, as well as learn about beef and veal production, nutrition and cookery.
Festivities will continue throughout the week with beef and veal taking center stage on Wednesday, January 13. Beef & Veal Day will feature multiple cooking demonstrations from 11 a.m.-6 p.m., on the PA Preferred™ Culinary Cooking Demonstration Stage, also located in the Main Hall. The day’s events will be highlighted by the inaugural PA Preferred™ Chili Cook-Off, in which Dawson “Chief Chili” Flinchbaugh, co-owner, Flinchy’s Steak & Seafood House, will compete against Charlie Gipe, Executive Chef, Hershey Entertainment Complex. The chefs will be paired with local beef and dairy producers to see what team will impress the crowd and be crowned chili champions.
“The Pennsylvania Farm Show is rooted in tradition and we’re thrilled to help celebrate such an exciting milestone,” commented the beef council’s Executive Director Bridget Bingham. “We look forward to welcoming consumers of all ages to the Beef Booth and providing them with fun, interactive learning opportunities.”
