An Avian Influenza management workshop is being offered for Pastured Poultry Producers on October 14 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Farm and Home Foundation of Lancaster County, 1383 Arcadia Road, Lancaster, PA 17601.
PASA and the American Pastured Poultry Producers Association (APPPA) invite anyone involved with poultry farming to attend their joint workshop on best practices for preventing and managing high pathogenicity avian influenza (HPAI) on pastured poultry farms.
This workshop will offer a comprehensive overview of HPAI issues for the pasture environment. Attendees will learn best practices to prevent infection, as well as their rights and responsibilities should an outbreak occur on their farm. Speakers will include: Mike Badger, executive director of APPPA and successful pastured poultry farmer; Susan Beal, holistic livestock health specialist and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM); and Patty Dunn, avian pathologist at Penn State University and DVM. Staff from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and PASA will also be on hand to help answer questions and facilitate discussion.
