Interested students are asked to submit an application for the Student Leader Scholarships, made available through the Center for Dairy Excellence Foundation of Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association. For the 2015- 2016 academic year, seven $3,000 scholarships have been made available to undergraduate students. Applications are due June 1.
“With the Center for Dairy Excellence Foundation of Pennsylvania, we are dedicated to investing in the next generation,” said Emily Yeiser, dairy initiatives manager of the Center for Dairy Excellence. “We are pleased to partner with the PA Dairymen’s Association to offer these scholarship opportunities that will support young people who are passionate about tomorrow’s dairy industry.”
To qualify, students must demonstrate a commitment to working in the dairy industry. One of the scholarships will be designated for an incoming freshman. The purpose of these scholarships are to provide recognition, encouragement, and financial assistance to outstanding students enrolled in academic programs that support the dairy industry.
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to Pennsylvania residents who are full-time undergraduate students planning to enroll or currently enrolled in a qualifying field of study which includes: Dairy and Animal Science, Ag Marketing and Business, Nutrition, Food Science, Ag and Extension Education, Ag Business Management, Ag Engineering, or related fields.
Students may apply for and receive the scholarship in subsequent years, but a student can only receive the $3,000 scholarship two times during their undergraduate academic career. Students employed by the Center for Dairy Excellence as an intern or in another capacity are not eligible to apply for the scholarship during the period in which they are working for the center.
Application must be made using the Center for Dairy Excellence Foundation of Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association Student Leader Scholarship Application form. All applications must be typed, and word count requirements followed. An electronic copy of the scholarship application is available here.
