The Winter Dairy Management Programs will be offered in three locations, Cooperstown on March 31, Fonda on April 1, and Schuylerville on April 2.

Speakers will include Dr. Thomas Overton from the Cornell Animal Science Department, who will address dairy nutrition and its effect on butterfat and milk protein production. Kathy Barrett from Cornell’s Pro Dairy program will address the impact milk components have on your milk check. Betsey Howland from the Pro Dairy program will address milk income minus feed costs and what factors have the greatest correlation to profitability.

In addition, New York dairy producers who have achieved exceptional levels of milk production along with high butterfat and milk protein will discuss what they do to achieve these exceptional results. The lineup includes Brad Cates from Tully, who will speak on Cooperstown, Josh Lathrop from Sherburne, who will speak in Fonda, and Bruce Matis from Fort Plain, who will speak in Schuylerville.

The Central New York Dairy Day program is hosted by the Central New York Dairy & Field Crops Team of Cornell Cooperative Extension, which covers Chenango, Fulton, Herkimer, Montgomery, Otsego, Saratoga, and Schoharie Counties. Anyone can attend the event regardless of county residence.
