24 Agricultural Research Projects Receive Northern NY Farmer-Driven Program Grants
The farmer-driven Northern New York Agricultural Development Program has announced grant awards for 24 projects. The research projects are focused on dairy animal health, crop disease and pest prevention and management, forage supply options, agricultural nutrient management and farm stewardship, and beef, fruit, vegetable and maple production. The grants issued by the Northern New York Agricultural Development Program are made possible by State Budget support of the program that prioritizes research and technical assistance to farmers in Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties. The Program received $600,000 in the 2017-2018 New York State Budget. The funding is supported by the New York State Senate and administered through the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets.
Vermont Maplerama 2017 Registration
The event will be held August 3-5 in Hyde Park, Vermont. The full registration includes a Thursday evening trade show, Friday tour, bag lunch and banquet and a Saturday tour and barbecue. Register here.
Dates Set for the 2017 New York State Maple Tour
The Lewis County Maple Producer Association will be hosting the 2017 New York State Maple tour, scheduled for August 13-15. Attendees from across the Empire State will have the opportunity to visit local maple syrup producers, examine their facilities, and engage fellow producers. The tour will also include a stop at Shultz’s cheese curd and The tour will include a trade show and banquet at the Ridgeview lodge in Lowville, NY. Participants will be bused to each stop.
