Duryea Technologies MODE Power System
Duryea Technologies to design the MODE Power System, a new generator set intended to handle the inherent liabilities of biogas. Duryea has sold its first production run of MODE (Modular On-Demand Energy) units and sites will be online in Pennsylvania dairy country by the end of 2017.
HELM Agro US Hires John Bruce as Sales Manager for New Sales Territory
HELM Agro US, Inc. announced the hiring of John Bruce as Sales Manager for the company’s newly created Eastern Corn Belt and Northeast sales territory. This new sales region was created to increase the level of customer service provided by HELM Agro US to its agricultural distributor and retail partners throughout the Midwest and Northeast. In this role, Bruce will be responsible for driving sales of the company’s crop protection portfolio and supporting its channel partners in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Wisconsin and New England.
2017 Summer Organic Dairy Series
The 2017 Summer Organic Dairy Series, which begins July 31, will focus on strategies for success with workshops planned at three Vermont farms. Dairy producers will have an opportunity to hear from other farmers about their organic dairy production, pasture management and forages as well as their challenges and successes in transitioning from conventional to organic operations. Fairfield grazing consultant Sarah Flack and University of Vermont (UVM) Extension agronomist Dr. Heather Darby will be on hand at each event to lead discussions and answer questions. The workshop series is sponsored by the UVM Extension Northwest Crops and Soils Program and the Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont (NOFA-VT). The fee per workshop is $20 for farmers, $30 for all others, and includes lunch from NOFA-VT’s Pizza Oven. Pre-registration is required with the deadline for each event 10 days in advance. Registrations will be accepted online. All workshops will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Martin Industries, LLC announced the introduction of three new products to its Martin-Till® lineup. The new Martin-Till Smart Clean™ row cleaner adjustment system allows operators to adjust row cleaners and air bag pressure on the go with an easy-to-use smart phone app. The second new addition to the Martin-Till product line is the company’s new dual unit-mounted fertilizer opener (UMO). The Martin-Till dual UMO allows growers to place their liquid nitrogen fertilizer precisely 2 5/8 inches on both sides of the row at seeding depth.
