Guidebook Helps Farmers Understand New Jersey’s Right to Farm Act
Agriculture Secretary Douglas H. Fisher announced that the State Agriculture Development Committee (SADC) has published a Right to Farm guidebook to help farmers, their neighbors and municipalities understand the role of the Right to Farm Act in resolving disputes involving commercial farms. The guidebook explains the basics of the Right to Farm Act, including eligibility criteria, protected activities, the formal complaint process and procedures, and commonly asked questions. The publication also discusses agricultural mediation as an alternative to the formal Right to Farm dispute resolution process.
PA Performance-Tested Sheep and Goat Sale Grosses $47,400
Pennsylvania sheep and goat producers received $47,400 for 94 elite animals during the Livestock Evaluation Center’s 38th annual Performance Tested Ram Lamb and Meat Goat Buck Sale. Top males selected after 77-day ram and 70-day buck performance tests sold August 6 at the center in Pennsylvania Furnace, Centre Co. The tests evaluated growth, average daily gain, muscling and fat deposition. Performance tested rams averaged $638, while performance tested bucks averaged $556. Select females also sold to round out the sale of a total 94 lots.
Challenger 1000 Series Tractor
Challenger, an AGCO Corporation brand, introduced a new category of tractors at the 2016 Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa. The Challenger 1000 Series tractors are offered in four models ranging from 396 to 517 engine horsepower with a weight range of 31,204 lbs. (14,153 kg) to 50,706 lbs. (23,000 kg). They are also built upon the AccuEngineering platform.
