Pioneer FFA Brings Christmas Cheer

12/25/2012

Pioneer FFA members learned about growing poinsettias and distributed the plants to The Pines Nursing Home in memory of Earl Northrup. With the assistance of Elton Greenhouse, Delevan, N.Y., FFA members purchased and finished out 60 poinsettia plants in the school greenhouse. A few weeks before Christmas, the plants were delivered to The Pines. The flowers will be placed in the dining facilities for all to enjoy during the holiday season.

Earl Northrup was an avid supporter of the Pioneer FFA and worked closely with the members. Some of the best memories include carrying Northrup's flag for the Wyoming County Fair, enjoying milkshakes with Northrup, and taking new members to Earl's Restaurant for ice cream. He received the Pioneer FFA Honorary Chapter Degree in 2001. He also sponsored FFA citizenship awards to over 30 students throughout the years. FFA members learned about work ethic and good citizenship from Northrup, and he is greatly missed by all.
