Flies on cattle or horses on pasture?

Field meeting on pasture fly management!
Saratoga and Rensselaer County Cornell Cooperative Extensions are teaming up to host these on farm meetings Saturday, August 11th.
- The first meeting will be focused on equines and held at Olde Saratoga Farms, LLC., 522 Route 32 North, Schuylerville, NY 12871 from 9:00-11:00 am.
- The second meeting is centered on cattle and hosted by Buckley Beef, 425 Master Street, Valley Falls 12185 from 1:00-3:00 pm.
All are welcome, whether you have a hobby or commercial farm, you are sure to take away some great information from the meeting! These will be separate tours, but you are welcome to attend both if interested. DEC Credits are also available in categories 1b, 10, and 31. The cost for the meetings is $7.00.

Who are the usual summer time pest species and what can you do about them?
From these field meetings you will learn to correctly identify the most important fly pests affecting cattle and horses on pasture in the northeast. You will also learn techniques to determine if fly populations are at numbers that can cause economic injury. Learn the options available for controlling fly pests affecting animals on pasture including the role of dung beetles, use of effective biting fly catching traps suitable for use on pasture, and what you should know about making insecticide use decisions.
