Empire Farm Days

August 10-12, Seneca Falls, N.Y.

This year’s show marks the 77th anniversary of the Empire Farm Days, held August 10-12 at the Rodman Lott & Sons Farm in Seneca Falls, N.Y. The 300-plus-acre site will host more than 600 exhibitors, as well as 70,000 farmers from all over the United States and Canada.

What’s new at the 2010 Empire Farm Days? New features and programs:

A panel presentation on emissions control legislation that will affect virtually every farm in New York state.
A Symposium on Contemporary Farming: Helping the Food Chain Understand Agriculture.
Side-by-side demonstrations of switchgrass and sorghum as cellulosic ethanol biomass crops.
The opportunity to test drive the Heavy Duty 2010 Ram truck.

Before the Lott family began hosting the event in 1988, Ralph Lott says he learned about a new zone tillage system at a previous host site. He uses that system today to produce crops on 4,300 acres at the farm south of Seneca Falls.

Popular returning features at the show include the ”Old Iron Parade“ of classic antique tractors, field equipment demonstrations, the opportunity for a massage in the Grange tent, NYS agricultural history displays in the N.Y. Farm Bureau Center, the Ag Leaders Luncheon and much more.

The Empire Farms Days agricultural extravaganza includes farm safety and family life displays and activities, 600-plus representatives of agricultural institutions and organizations, GPS-equipped and compact tractor test drives and chicken, beef and pork BBQ.

Show hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday. Parking is $5, but show entrance is free.
