N.H. Farm & Forest Expo

February 6-7, Manchester, N.H.

There is something for everyone at the Expo! The N.H. Farm & Forest Expo will be held February 6-7 at The Center of New Hampshire - Radisson Hotel Manchester in Manchester, N.H. Admission is $7 for adults; children 15 and under are free. Show hours are 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Friday, February 6, and 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 7.

Since 1984, New Hampshire’s Greatest Winter Fair has offered commercial exhibits, educational, sessions, demonstrations, an auction and many activities for attendees of all ages.

The New Hampshire Farm & Forest Exposition is a nonprofit organization. A volunteer board of directors representing agriculture and forestry interests statewide oversees the annual operation of the exposition.

The major sponsors of the 2009 N.H. Farm & Forest Expo are the University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension (www.ceinfo.unh.edu), the N.H. Division of Forests & Lands (www.nhdfl.org) and the N.H. Department of Agriculture, Markets & Food (www.agriculture.nh.gov).

Awards breakfast

The annual industry awards breakfast on Saturday, February 7, is sponsored by Farm Family Insurance and N.H. Farm Bureau.

Dried hay contest

The First Annual Farm & Forest Expo Dried Hay Contest, sponsored by N.H. Farm Bureau Federation and UNH Cooperative Extension, takes place both days. There are two categories: Mixed Grass Hay, First Cutting, and Mixed Grass Hay, Second Cutting. Four cash prizes will be awarded: First place ($150) in each category and first runner-up ($50) in each category. Winners will also receive a handsome metal sign proclaiming them “Judged Best Haymaker in New Hampshire for 2008.” Judging will be based on forage analysis (50 percent), visual evaluation (30 percent) and production practices (20 percent). Once again, FARMO will take place at this year’s show 1-7 p.m. on Friday, February 6, and 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, in the Trade Show area:
